The wait is over. Yin Yang You, a much-anticipated, first-of-its-kind book, debuted amid fanfare at the Concordia 2021 Annual Summit.
The book is a collaboration between medical and scientific experts in the United States and China. It blends concepts rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with Western ideas and technologies to create the ultimate guide to holistic health.
Collaborators on the book include:
- Mehmet Oz, MD, prominent heart surgeon and Emmy-winning host of The Dr. Oz Show
- Anlong Xu, Ph.D., president of the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM)
- And scientists at USANA Health Sciences, The Cellular Nutrition Company
Yin Yang You: A ‘Game-Changer’
“For much of the West, Traditional Chinese Medicine remains a mystery,” Dr. Mehmet Oz says. “Thinking about health from a different approach feels more intimidating and unsettling than it does exciting and titillating. It’s easier — and more comforting — to stay the course with what we already know about health, about medicine, about treatments, and about diagnoses. Western medicine has given us some unimaginably innovative advances and treatments.”
Yet, common ailments — insomnia, headaches, fatigue — have been around for millennia. Therefore, it’s naive to believe remedies that only appeared in the last century are the only ones that matter.
“One of our Yin Yang You missions is to demystify the world of TCM,” Oz continues. “Not to replace Western thinking, treatments, and approaches, but to learn how East and West can work together. I am so grateful to work with experts such as Dr. Xu and the amazingly talented research and development team at USANA on this book, and I think it will be a game-changer for a lot of people.”
The beauty of Yin Yang You rests in its approachability. The authors distill complex concepts and utilize humorous stories, down-to-earth examples, and unique recipes to make the material come alive in readers’ minds.
East Meets West
“I am happy to be able to contribute to this book and help guide those in the West through the amazing journey of Traditional Chinese Medicine,” says BUCM President Dr. Anlong Xu. “Our mission at the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine is to promote global awareness and practice of Chinese medicine and to contribute to the development of human health and the progress of civilization. Yin Yang You is the perfect tool to help us with that mission.”
Instead of pitting East vs. West, Yin Yang You explains why the future of medicine should use both methods for overall health, wellness, and longevity.
The groundbreaking, eye-opening user’s guide to TCM launched at the Concordia 2021 Annual Summit in September 2021.
“Our Main Stage at this year’s Annual Summit will address the different ways in which we can advance societal health and wellness,” Matthew Swift, Concordia’s Co-Founder & CEO, said ahead of the event. “We’ll hear from high-level speakers, including Dr. Oz, who will explore the benefits of alternative healing, the future of healthcare, and more, as well as launching one of the most highly-anticipated books of 2021.”
